Ask A Local with Jordana Woodland in Montana

Post date:

Jordana Woodland fell in love with the art of dressing and the ritual of boudoir at a very young age.  She grew up to be the Founder & Creative Director of lifestyle brand Le Marché by NP and its house collection Naked Princess, a line of effortlessly chic loungewear, lingerie and beauty products.

“Le Marché by NP isn’t just a brand, it’s a curation of a life well-loved” says Woodland, whose celebrity fans, including Cindy Crawford, Petra Nemcova and Mindy Kaling, wholeheartedly agree.

What are three words you like to use when describing Whitefish, Montana to visitors?

Family Oriented, Friendly and Breathtakingly Gorgeous!

Which hotels do you recommend staying at? Why?

The Lodge Whitefish Lake to feel cozy while overlooking the Lake. The Firebrand to be in the center of life in Downtown Whitefish.

Best time of year to visit?

The Summers here are incredible. There’s a burst of energy that can be felt throughout the town. Spend the day out on the lake, grab a delicious dinner downtown and then go for an evening stroll. It doesn’t get dark here until 10pm in the height of Summer so we make the most out of every sunny moment!

What are your favorite outdoor and indoor activities?

My favorite outdoor activities are floating down the river on our tubes and rafting on the North Fork. We also hike to Avalanche Lake every year once Glacier National Park opens in the summertime. My family and friends look forward to it and it has become a family tradition of ours. My favorite indoor activity is making S’mores with my kids over a fire in our backyard on a cold winter afternoon.

What is your favorite street? Why?

Second Street because that’s where the Le Marché by NP Boutique and Boudoir Bar are! I love seeing how much Whitefish has grown in the past 10 years. Our downtown is expanding with amazing new businesses opening up on the side streets and “off the beaten path” areas that up until recently were greatly untapped. I love seeing this beautiful town grow and embrace a diversity of experience allowing people to explore more of this town that we love so much. Also, every holiday the city decorates Second Street with the most gorgeous Christmas Lights.

What are your favorite annual festivals and celebrations?

I personally LOVE the December holidays, so our Christmas Stroll, Holiday Parade and Ladies Night are towards the top of my list. The town gets decorated in lights and garland, people bundle up with hot chocolate in hand and come out to celebrate the season with joy and togetherness.

What are your safety tips?

Bear spray! We’re right up against the majestic beauty of Glacier National Park so awe-inspiring nature is right at our doorstep. With that luxury also comes the reality of bears, grizzly and black bears can sneak up on you. Having Bear Spray on hand is just a smart precaution to take while hiking the trails and exploring everything Montana has to offer.

Your top three shops to visit.

1. Le Marché by NP and Boudoir Bar of course!

3. Toggery

Which souvenirs should visitors purchase? From where?

I think best souvenirs are from Montana Scene off Central Ave. They have sweaters, hats, mugs and just anything that will make you feel nostalgic and want to come back.

Describe your perfect day in Montana.

As much as I love Montana and living in the mountains, I need the ocean. A perfect day for me would be a quick run on the beach with the entire family in Malibu. Throwing a football back and forth or playing lacrosse, letting the dogs run around and just having salty beach hair with sand all over the place and not worrying about anything else. After this, going for a bike ride to get ice cream at a local shop to then come home for a little afternoon siesta, and then an intimate family dinner, buffet style.
